Protective effect of propolis against aluminum chloride-induced reproductive toxicity in male rats

The aim of the present study was to investigate toxic effects aluminum chloride (AlCl3) on reproductive organs, as well as, protective effect propolis against AlCl3-induced toxicity in male rats. Eighty adult fertile Sprague Dawley albino rats were randomly divided into four groups 20 each. Group 1: served control group and received only distilled water. 2: a daily ingestion 80 mg/kg AlCl3. 3: 200 an ethanol extract propolis. 4: AlCl3 addition duration experiment six weeks. At end experiment, testes, seminal vesicles, prostate glands epididymides dissected out, weighed. Sperm characteristics evaluated plasma testosterone level estimated. There no significant changes between propolis-treated group. AlCl3-treated showed highly decrease index weights testes glands, lower sperm count, motility viability, increase number abnormal sperms, serum (p < 0.001), compared control. Rats AlCl3+propolis-treated improvement all previous alterations. In conclusion, appeared ameliorate
